The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee CEO Dmitry Chernyshenko reported on preparations for the XXII Olympic and XI Paralympic Winter Games at the annual Olympic Assembly, the governing body of the Russian Olympic Committee. Dmitry Chernyshenko stressed the importance of having every stakeholder involved in one of the nation’s most significant projects not only to host memorable Games for athletes and spectators but also to set a firm strategy of Olympic Venues usage.

“Construction works and management of Olympic Venues fall within the ambit of two temporary structures, Organizing Committee and State Corporation on Construction of Olympic Venues and Development of Sochi as Mountain Climatic Resort. Yet, Russian Olympic and Paralympic Committees as well as Sport Federations are permanent structures, and that is why it is crucial for each of them to be aware of all the Sochi 2014 developments and to be involved in the project at every stage. It will ensure that these newly build facilities offer a long-term Olympic legacy for sport in Russia and beyond.” – said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

In addition, the annual Olympic Assembly introduced Russia’s 2008 Olympic Team of Captains and included an update on Moscow’s bid to host the 2010 Youth Olympic Games.
