23.04.08
Sochi 2014 today unveiled an important facility for providing information to the Russian public and Olympic stakeholders about the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, with the opening of its Information Centre. The launch took place as the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee welcomed the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission to Sochi for the first time from April 22-23.
The Sochi 2014 Information Centre will serve as a resource for citizens, media, the business community and other interested parties on aspects of Games preparations including infrastructure development, the environment, use of Olympic and Paralympic brands, and legal issues. It will also store the detailed and reliable data obtained from all parties involved in the Sochi 2014 Games preparation process.
The launch of the Centre is the first stage of a major project to establish the Sochi 2014 Joint Information Centre, which will be headquartered in both Sochi and Moscow. The plan has been implemented by the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee in conjunction with RIA Novosti.
At present, the Sochi 2014 Information Centre provides the following services:
Hotline: Up-to-date information on Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games preparations provided by highly qualified staff. The free, multi-channel telephone line, 8 800 100 2014 is operational from 9.00 to 18.00 on working days.
Community Liaison Office: City administration executives will regularly welcome visitors and address any queries on how they will be affected by Games preparations.
Media Centre: A high-tech venue for the staging of presentations, press meetings, and video-conferences on Olympic matters.
Among the next phases in the development of the Sochi 2014 Joint Information Centre are a showroom and a Moscow-based Media Centre. This will work in conjunction with the Global Media Office, which processes the majority of Russian and international enquiries.
