Transport Director Role Created to Deliver Vital Infrastructure for 2014 Winter Games

Sochi 2014 - Russia's first Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games - today announced the plan to create a new partnership to manage the construction and preparation of Sochi's new transport network. The transport partnership - a joint venture between the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee, the Olympstroy State Corporation and Russia’s Ministry of Transportation - will oversee all transport matters in connection with the 2014 Games.

Sochi 2014's commitment to developing a world-class transport system ahead of the Games was also boosted by the plans to introduce a new ‘Director of Transport’ role within the Organising Committee. The move comes after extensive consultation with the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) transport experts.

Speaking at the introductory seminar of the transport partnership, senior representatives reiterated their commitment to finish all transport construction two years prior to the opening ceremony of Sochi 2014. Detailed discussions about construction plans and the creation of a joint information monitoring system between the three partners were also covered.

Dmitry Chernyshenko, President and CEO of Sochi 2014, said:

The formation of this transport partnership and creation of the role of Transport Director are two important steps to achieve this."
