Sochi 2014 Tells IOC Press Commission of Their Media Operations Plans
|

21.11.08
Sochi 2014 presented their media operations concept to the International
Olympic Committee (IOC) Press Commission in Vancouver. Igor Stolyarov, Vice
President for Marketing, Commercial Operations and Communications, told the 200
media representatives from all over the world on the Commission about Sochi
2014’s commitment to provide the most comfortable and professional environment,
complete with cutting-edge and reliable facilities for the world’s media to work
in during Russia’s first Winter Games.
The IOC Press Commission is a regular congress each host city delivers a
couple of years prior to the Games to help media arrange their Games-time
operations. It includes venues tours, presentations and one-on ones meetings.
Mr Stolyarov highlighted the innovations Sochi 2014 will provide for the
international and domestic media, such as Sochi 2014’s Joint Information Centre
(JIC). Jointly located in Moscow and Sochi, the JIC is equipped with a live
video conference service, press briefing rooms, media work stations and various
amenities.
During Sochi 2014, the media will benefit from the most compact Winter Games
ever. The Main Media Center, which will incorporate the International Broadcast
Center, will offer media and broadcasters 70,000m² of workspace, located walking
distance from the Olympic Stadium, the five ice competition venues and the
Olympic Village within Sochi 2014’s Coastal Cluster. The Media Sub-Center, in
the Mountain Cluster less than 40 minutes from the center of Sochi, will give
journalists easy access to all alpine venues.
While covering Sochi 2014, journalists will enjoy comfortable and well-priced
accommodation in close proximity to both the Main Media Center and the Media
Sub-Center. When travelling between the Mountain and Coastal Clusters and other
Games sites, the media will have a dedicated Media Bus System and free use of
rail services to ensure thousands of media enjoy complete comfort and
convenience as part of an innovative Winter Games that inspires the
world.
