Yevgeny Plushenko

Silver Medalist of the Vancouver 2010 Games and Sochi 2014 Ambassador

“I think that our Sochi2014.ru World Russky Dom gave a big celebration to all guests in Vancouver, who came here from different countries. It is especially pleasing that among the daily scores of people who waited in line at the Sochi World entrance, there were many children for whom entry was open. Of course, our house received guests in a special warm and hospitable way.

In regards to the Games themselves, I particularly liked the fact that the venues were located very close to one another. Sochi World was no exception, which is why it was often visited by members of our Russian team, Russian sports stars and international celebrities.”

"What I love about Sochi 3 february 2010

Jacques Rogge

IOC President

“What I love about Sochi is that it is a city with great potential for winter sports. The Games are opening a new winter sports region — there are traditional centers, such as the Alps, Scandinavian countries, the Tatra Mountains and now a new region is appearing, which is also focused on maintaining environmental integrity. Sochi is a unique location — you can be on the beach and see the snow-capped peaks, then drive 30 km, where you can participate in winter sports. I have no worries: construction is on schedule, but we still always say to our organizers: ‘Don’t waste time!”

Dmitry Medvedev

President of Russia

Quality preparation for the Olympic Games in 2014 gives us a unique opportunity to solve several problems at once. The first task is the development of the city of Sochi, the creation of a modern, high- quality mountain climatic resort, where millions of our Russian citizens and citizens from other countries will come to relax. Second - we certainly need to create a world-class sports infrastructure, in order to give a strong impetus to the development of winter sports in our country. All of the new venues will later be used by both professionals and amateurs alike, as well as by those who simply like to engage in physical activity.

We discussed various issues, transport, security and much more. Seeing the type of people involved in the process, we have no doubt that this project will be successfully implemented.

Philip Sir Craven

IOC President

The Paralympic Movement has come a long way, and today the athletes are ready to show all spectators here on Red Square, just what they are made of. We, at the International Paralympic Committee constantly portray our four values of Courage, Determination, Inspiration, and Equality. Today we will see where they come from, and the impact that they just might have on everyone. It is not only for the athletes to show - everyone has the chance to test their own skills throughout the day. I hope that the celebration of Paralympic Winter Day will become a tradition in Russia and a further catalyst for positive change in the country.
