Sochi is proud to have the full support of the Russian Government with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov, Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin, and Sport Minister Vyacheslav Fetisov, who is a two-time Olympic Champion and recently appointed chairperson of UNESCO's International Convention Against Doping in Sport, at the helm of the bid, and President Putin's stated commitment to bringing the Winter Games to Sochi. The decision by the government to nominate the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister to lead Sochi s Bid Committee is a strong endorsement of our city s hopes to secure the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Deputy Prime Minister Zhukov will lead as Chairman of the Sochi 2014 Bid Committee, Finance Minister Kudrin has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the bid and Sports Minister Fetisov is a key member and adviser to the Bid Committee. |
