Alexander Zhukov is the current
Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation. Elected
to this post in 2004, Mr. Zhukov has an extensive background in government
and politics. Previously elected, in 2003, First Vice-Chairman of the
State Duma, one of the houses of Russia's parliament, Zhukov, a trained
economist has also served on the staff of the Currency and Economy
Department at the USSR Ministry of Finance from 1980-1991. From 1991 to
2003 he was a Deputy of the State Duma, during which period he was a
member, and then chairman of the Budget Committee, Taxation Banks and
Finance, and a member of the Commission on State Debt and Foreign
Assets. |
