Deputy Prime Minister of Russia
Dmitry Kozak was born
in 1958 in Kirovograd region. He graduated from the
Law Department of Leningrad State University in 1985. Until
1989 he worked as prosecutor, then senior prosecutor
in the general Leningrad city prosecutor’s office. From
1989-1990 he was head of the legal
department of Monolit-KirovStroy concern under the USSR Trade Sea Ports association. From 1990 to 1999 he occupied a number of important positions in the Leningrad Executive Committee and the Administration of the City of St. Petersburg, such as deputy head of the legal department, head of the legal department (in the city’s Council of People’s Deputies), and chairman of the legal committee of the chancellery of St. Petersburg. From1998-1999 Dmitry Kozak was a vice-governor of the city of St. Petersburg. From 1999-2000 he was the CEO of the RF Government Executive Office and, as such, a minister of the Russian Federation. In June 2003 he became a deputy to the head of the Administration (Executive Office) of the President of Russia. In October 2003, he became First Deputy Head of RF Presidential Administration. In March 2004, Mr. Kozak became head of the RF Government Executive Office and, as such, a minister of the Russian Federation. In September 2004, he was appointed Plenipotentiary of the RF President in Southern Federal District. From September, 2007, until October, 2008, Mr. Kozak served as Russian Federation Minister for Regional Development. On October 14, 2008, the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced the creation of an eighth position of Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation and appointed Dmitry Kozak to this post. |
