Nikolay Lents is a Doctor of Educational Sciences and a Merited Physical Culture Professional of Russia. He is a Full 3rd Class Counselor of State and has gained several governmental awards.
Mr. Lents took part in the preparation and organisation of USSR and Russia teams at twelve Olympic Winter Games and three Paralympic Games. He worked as Secretary General of the USSR Olympic Committee, taking charge of the scientific, methodological and medical support for USSR teams. Later, Mr Lents became Deputy Chairman of the Russian Sports Committee, as well as being an Olympic attaché for the Olympic Committee of Russia and head of the Russian delegation at Paralympics.
Nikolay Lents has been a consultant to a number of Olympic Bid and Organization Committees. From 1989 to 1993, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committee (EOC) and chairman of the Juridical Commission of the EOC. In the Council of Europe he was an expert in the Sports Antidoping Monitoring Group. At present, Mr. Lents is a consultant to the President of Russian Paralympic Committee, having also written leading scientific literature on athlete preparation.
Mr. Lents is married and has two sons.
He was born in Moscow in 1955.
