Press-secretary of the Prime Minister of Russia

Dmitry Peskov was born in Moscow in 1967. In 1989 he graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Moscow State University, with a degree in oriental history. In 1989 he began working in the headquarters of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs and abroad in the country’s diplomatic missions. From 1990 to 1994 he was the assistant-on-duty, then attache, then third secretary in the USSR (later Russian) Embassy in Turkey. From 1994 to 1996 he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. From 1996 to 2000 Mr. Peskov was the second and then the first secretary of the Russian Federation Embassy in Turkey. Since 2000 he has been head of the department for relations with mass media, deputy head of the Russian President Press Service, and, when the President Administration was reorganized in March 2004, deputy press secretary of RF President (since April 2004). On May 6, 2008, Mr. Peskov was appointed Press Secretary of the Prime Minister — Deputy Head of the Office of RF Government. He was awarded a Badge of Honour. He is married and has a daughter and a son.
